Ad-free YouTube with offline and background playback
YouTube Premium offers ad-free video viewing, background play, and offline downloads, with YouTube Music Premium bundled in many regions. In 2025 YouTube expanded pricing dynamics, including a Light/Lite variant to reduce cost for ad-free viewing of standard videos, while maintaining the core Premium plan at the higher tier. The service targets general video consumers who want uninterrupted viewing across devices, along with access to YouTube Music. YouTube Premium competes with Netflix and Prime Video by delivering a clean, ad-free experience across a vast, user-generated and licensed catalog of videos and channels. It remains a globally available option with broad language support and device compatibility.
