Ultra-fast Gen4 NVMe SSD for gaming and boot drives
Samsung’s 990 Pro is a top-tier PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD designed for gamers and power users who demand leading performance and reliability. The 990 Pro family leverages Samsung’s own controller and 176-layer V-NAND, delivering sensational sequential speeds around 7.45 GB/s read and 6.9 GB/s write for the 2TB variant, with strong random I/O performance to accelerate OS boot, game launches, and large file workflows. The drive remains a standout for PS5 and PC builds due to its robust endurance, solid thermals, and dependable software (Samsung Magician) for firmware updates and health monitoring. In 2025, it remains a premier option for enthusiasts who want cutting-edge Gen4 performance without the premium price of newer Gen5 options.
