Canon RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM
#1 in Macro Lenses · Rated 4.8
World's first medium-telephoto macro lens with 1.4x magnification
Canon's RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM is a purpose-built macro lens for Canon RF-mount full-frame bodies. It combines a true life-size 1:1 macro with a comfortable working distance and a versatile 100mm field of view, making close-ups easier without getting in too close to the subject. The lens features Hybrid IS for up to several stops of stabilization, helping steady handheld macro work when working at close distances. Its SA (spherical aberration) control ring lets photographers tailor the look of foreground and background bokeh, while weather sealing and robust construction make it suitable for field and studio use. The lens is well-regarded for color fidelity, edge-to-edge sharpness, and strong micro-contrast, giving it a clear differentiator against many third-party macros in its class. It’s particularly appealing to professionals who shoot flowers, jewelry, and small items where precise magnification and reliable AF are essential, and who want a dedicated macro option that doubles as a portrait-capable prime.
