New GR IV blends 25.7MP APS-C power with a pocketable fixed 28mm lens.
Ricoh’s GR IV is the latest evolution of the GR line, aiming to deliver pro-grade street photography in a compact package. The GR IV introduces a back-illuminated APS-C sensor around 25.7MP, a newly designed GR LENS at 28mm-equivalent, and the GR ENGINE 7 for improved processing and rendering. Improvements include faster start-up (~0.6 seconds), five-axis image stabilization, and a refined, slimmer body with a deeper grip for better handling on the street. The camera emphasizes snapshot-oriented usage with minimal distractions, offering a clean interface and strong JPEG/color performance with a focus on immediacy and image fidelity. It also includes a larger internal storage footprint and new wireless/app connectivity features to support modern workflows. Ricoh positioned the GR IV as a premium pocketable option for street photographers and documentary shooters who want high-quality results quickly. Availability began in Autumn 2025 in selected markets, with Ricoh continuing GR IIIx variants in parallel in some regions.
